12 months ago l would have rated this surgery 5 stars. They have lost 4 or 5 doctors since then and struggling to recruit. Since July 2018 you cannot book an appointment.You phone at 8am takes 200 plus attempts to get through at say 8.45am, you then wait in a queue for 15 min for call to be answered. Then triage by a medically unqualified receptionist to be told doctor will ring you back. Wait 2 to 3 hours for a call from a triage doctor who decides if you qualify for an appointment. My 1 star was generous as this surgery is not providing an acceptable level of service. They have some very good doctors l add but you cannot get to see them. In 2019 this is completely unacceptable and no wonder patients are opting to go straight to A & E.
Appointment booking is horrendous - called 181 times this morning (not an exaggeration) before I was even able to get through to their queue - then someone says they will get a doctor to call you back. Why do we have to call bang on 0800 when someone will call us back anyway?!
Nearly impossible to get an appointment when you need one! Expect to be on hold on the phone for ages to get told you'll get a call back and if not to call back later in the day again.I'm sorry to say this was once a good surgery but is somewhat a joke neglecting patients who need medical treatment.
Used to be a lovely surgery, top notch and the doctors are still good at what theyre doing. But the new way to book appointments is a joke. Its gotten to the point where Ive been fully aware I need help for several problems that I just havent bothered to get seen for, because of how inconvenient it is just to get an appointment in the first place. You have to go in (calling is now a waste of time as youll never get through!) at 8am, and since I cant drive that means an hours walk there and back, only for them to then call later on in the day to tell you that they may not even give you an appointment at all!Some of us work in places that dont allow phones, some of us cant drive, some of us cant take our own temperature or describe our own symptoms clearly enough, and its impacting all of us.
Residents in and around Whittlesey who are patients of The New Queen Street Surgery, it is of great disappointment to write this review but I must. The new process to see a Doctor is, one, you may phone up or two, wait in a queue, when your call is finally answered after a good 20 minutes most times the receptionists tell you they are fully booked up. However you will need to answer the receptionists questions and then go about your business waiting to get triage call, again more questions and its up to that clinician to justify if you can actually get the medical treatment one requires.For myself whos got a 7 - 5 job, its extremely difficult to abide by this new process, this does not work for me and I surely believe it is the same for many others who are in full time employment. This new process needs to change to facilitate all patients. Hopefully the practice manager and GP partners understand that this is not working and make changes.I will say the receptionists and other staff are quite understanding, polite and helpful.
