This review is from Rosemary Keywood not R Appleby!November 2018 I came in for revision surgery of a hip I had replaced thirty years ago. From the date I was referred to Mr Shair I had been made aware it would be a difficult procedure as it was impossible to locate any information about the existing hip, which he really needed for replacement sizing. I cannot thank Mr Shair enough for all his hard work and dedication in researching the necessary information and then for performing the operation with such expertise, care and thoughtfulness. My delay in writing a review is no disrespect to the hospital or the surgery, it is just revision is a tougher recovery than a normal hip replacement and of course I am 30 years older!! so obviously recovery takes a bit longer!! Thank you to the Staff who made me feel so welcome and comfortable and above all a truly heartfelt thank you to Mr Shair for everything you have done for me.
I have just been in for 1 of many many more appointments and the care is 5 very professional
At the end of October I was admitted to this tiny hospital for L4/L5 spinal fusion as I was in loads of constant pain from stenosis plus the vertebra was unstable, putting me at at risk of cauda equina syndrome, when I could have become doubly incontinent - mmmmm not much option except surgery then! The surgeon Mr Shair had seen me only 5 weeks previously - yes, that's all the time it took even though I was an NHS referral - and explained everything to me. Even though I was so well informed I was hugely anxious. However, Mr Shair, Mr Arrowsmith (the anaesthetist), the lady physio and ALL the team were fantastic, very reassuring, nothing was too much trouble and the standard of caring was amazing. Thanks to Mr Shair's wonderful surgery (this gentleman is gifted) I am well on the road to recovery. Massive thanks to everybody. I asked to go to OSSH because a friend had received such excellent treatment from Mr Shair - pass it on, I certainly do!
This hospital, from the excellent sergeorn through the whole staff is one of the the most professional and welcoming places I've stayed at.From the moment I met the Doctor I was informed he could help, and would do so in a matter of days. In less than one week he had operated and had me standing upright for the first time in 8 months. Impressive is too smaller word to describe the way this hospital is run. Oh and the food was lovely too. The rooms like a B&B with TV and on suite...
Had my surgery 5 weeks ago for cervical spine discectomy. What a great surgeon and team. Everyone was highly professional and on the ball. The nhs could learn a few lessons on how to deal with patients and how to run a hospital. Get an nhs referal from your GP, you will be amazed at the speed of a consultation and then the treatment.
