You usually know what you are going to get with Holiday Inn. Efficient, clean, straightforward. This is not really the case with Peterborough. From the off the chap on reception had the social skills of cheese in a stick. When we went to our room to find it had just hosted a smoking convention for the smoking smokey people up there on smokey mountain and was thus inhabitable the receptionist said 'we don't have any other rooms'. We politely suggested he go and see if he felt the room was usable. He declined and with help from a younger, less grumpy colleague quickly found another room. It was unfriendly, lacking in any sort of customer focus and the room was frankly disgusting. We got a room with a smaller double bed. Nobody said sorry. Nobody even spoke or smiled. Unhappy in your work? Thats a shame, try to contain it.
This was our first stay in this hotel and we were not disappointed. The room was a reasonable size, free wifi! Huge TV very clean bathroom and helpful staff. Couldn't ask for more
Conveniently located (just off A1). Pleasant staff. Car park a bit tight & unfortunately no lift (I should have checked before booking). Dog friendly (for 15 per night).
PLUSRooms: Basic but pleasant, comfortable room with good lighting and calm colours.The cost of two beers and a packet of nuts at the bar was 9! And the beer wasn't very cold.The reception/breakfast area is pretty hideous - browns, puke-yellows, grubby plastic chairs and brutal overhead lighting. Not somewhere to linger! The night we stayed, a row of Christmas lights were flashing on and off, on and off.
A two night stay here in Oct 2018. A nice hotel, the rooms are furnished to a good standard, very business looking. Food was what you would expect at a holiday inn express, acceptable but nothing to write home about. Staff where friendly and It is situated next door to a harvester which is ideal for an evening meal. Nothing else within walking distance though.
