Not terrible but not good either. Expensive paid 75 for 1 night for a basic double room needs a refurb.
Was here for a training session held by our Company. The staff were polite and very helpful with queries and requests.
Nice place to stay at, clean and bright reception. My room was a single sized just about right. Undergoing refurbishment so still looks run down in places. Food in restaurant was sufficient for most palates. Will stay there again but this time with en suite facilities. (I don't like sharing all that.
Feels like they got to 1973 then decided yup, that'll do. Sit in the beautifully antiquated 'lounge' area and look at the lovely torn wallpaper and flaky paint on the walls. You get the idea.
Each aspect of the Newark Hotel is pleasing. First the price; unbelievably good value. Then the friendliness of those running the hotel. The efficiency too: I was telephoned the day before to confirm my arrival time. Then the large car parking area, safe and secluded. The room itself, small ( being a standard single) but more than adequately comfortable and with everything working. Clean sheets and towels, tea and coffee, and a quiet environment for a proper nights rest. A very good breakfast in spacious surroundings and quick friendly service. Some hotels just get it right and this one does along with a feel-good element. I recommend the Newark for all these reasons.
