Tried pinning damage on me that had been previously done (luckily I took a picture on the day the car was dropped off) and then after the car went back I received an invoice for 15 litres of fuel... I had filled the car as instructed to do before the car was to be collected! (Again I'm no mug so had taken a picture of the full tank) don't be taken in by this company's kindness as they will try and pin charges on you where they can!!!!! Would not recommend them at all.
Very efficient. We booked a car for 4 people and 4 bags. They upgraded us to a huge minibus kind of van. It was uncomfy, hard to get in and our as it was high. No console so handbrake was a long way down on the floor. It spoilt our south coast road trip with my stepdaughter and her new fiance. If you get an upgrade, just make sure it's right for you.
Absolutely ridiculously useless customer service. I booked a car a couple of months ago, but I didn't show up to pick it up as I had medical problems and was at the hospital. When I requested the refund I was told that there will be a No Show up charge, but I never received the money.
Frighteningly bad.I wouldn't rent from Europcar again, even if you paid me - shoddy and zero customer service.I'm a UK citizen, temporarily working in Austria. I'd booked a car in advance, for a 2 week holiday in rural Suffolk - so absolutely essential to have a car. Got to the Europcar office in Peterborough. Handed over every piece of documentation which had been requested on the website. I was then told that the address on my UK licence didn't match the address on my Austrian bank statement. So - the desk clerk refused to rent! Clean licence, clean DVLA code, passport, bank statement, utility bill, offer to leave large deposit - nothing would shift the desk clerk Lengthy and polite conversation ensued. No budging.What was as shocking was the attitude of "tough - it's your problem". There was no attempt to find a solution, a workaround or offer any alternative. Just waving clause 73c of the Terms and Conditions at me and saying "computer says 'no'". I was almost looking for the hidden camera - perhaps it was a set up for a TV show?So I'm completely stuck - 75 miles from my destination, having followed every letter of the instructions given to me and yet being told "no rental". I politely asked to speak with the manager. A lengthy wait ensued. Then much the same conversation. This time, I was also asked to show return flight tickets between Austria and UK (not requested during online booking or conversation with desk clerk. And, of no relevance, as far as I could see). I gladly presented my flight tickets. Minor head scratching from the manager. Eventually, I managed to politely negotiate the rental that I had booked. I was left feeling very stressed and properly humiliated (others were in the branch at the same time - listening to the whole pantomime). Never again. You couldn't pay me enough to use Europcar in the future.PS - And the reply from EC, below, sums up the whole thing. 2 weeks after posting and the best response is to ask me to write to themA. Which I had done already, andB. Why don't you simply copy/paste the review into an e-mail to yourselves?!Europcar - Always striving to make it the customer's problem.
I was served by different people for pick up and drop off and both were fantastic, really friendly and professional. We had our car upgraded as the one we picked was out of stock, nice little surprise on arrival. It took about 5 minutes on pick up and probably less than one on return. Ive hired cars from places all over Peterborough and this was by far the most pleasant and stress free experience.
