Awful communication.And hour and a half delivering the car making me late for work. Not turning up to collect the car until the day after collection was arranged and no communication to advise of the change! Even advised I could leave the key to a brand new bmw under a plant pot! Cant fault the car tho ;)
I would like to thank Charlie at this Peterborough branch for going above and beyond with a problem I had. Charlie was manning the out of hours phone on the 8/11/18 and did everything he possibly could to help me. Excellent customer service and very efficient.
They get one star because the car was a clean late model car and the price was reasonable. They get no stars at all for customer service; it is an absolute DISGRACE! To the Thrifty Peterborough depot staff, customers are a pesky nuisance that should be discouraged at every opportunity.The Thrifty Peterborough depot is in an industrial area with no available public transport. They do, however, offer a pickup service from Peterborough station. I booked and prepaid for one days rental and opted to be picked up from the railway station. When I arrived at the railway station and rang for a pickup the clerk said that he will not pick me up because I havent travelled far enough and I have to make my own way to the depot. When I explained that they had already agreed to pick me up from the station he repeated that he will not pick me up and thats that! I had to get a taxi to the depot.When I arrived at the depot there was nobody in reception and a voice yelled to me from the back office to wait. Eventually someone appeared and he took 45 minutes to process a prepaid rental; a task that should have taken no more than 10 minutes. As a direct result of him taking 45 minutes to do a 10 minute task I was 15 minutes late to an important meeting.The next day, when I returned the car, the same clerk went over the car with a fine tooth comb. Eventually he said (with distinct disappointment in his voice) I cant find any additional damage. He then told me that my deposit will be returned in 7 to 10 working days. When I asked why it takes so long to return a deposit he said thats how long it takes.In summary, if you are renting a car, dont bother with Thriftys Peterborough office. The benefit of a slightly lower price is more than wiped out by the remote location and appalling customer service.
