Absolutely woeful. I moved house. They wanted to charge me 1300 more for moving. I was expecting a slight increase. 1300 is obscene considering the initial policy was 350. They then say, As we have offered you an alternative and not refused to insure you we are going to charge you 50 cancellation fee! Avoid at all costs. Awkward, pay more from a more reputable company that you will have heard of and avoid Budget insurance.
AVOID!!!!!Budget Vs Cheap!!!! I am having a terrible experience, I found out it was a continuous payment agreement I signed not a direct debit, allowing them to debit your account for whatever amounts at any time to my horror, when I cancelled my policy and stated I did not want or authorise payment to be taken this way they still continued to debit my account for cancellation fees, this then left me with unpaid charges and fees. The complaints team weren't able to respond to me until 24 hours later and then left me a voicemail to say they will deal with my complaint in writing within 8 weeks due to the time response for their department expiring!!Also the so called customer service team are unaware of what can be heard when you call them!!
Think you've got a cheap renewal? It will come back and bite you hard if you are involved in a bump. They do not want to know and are sooooo unhelpful. You'll be left paying 1000s. Worth paying a little more for your insurance and getting the right service when you really need it. Budget are jokers that I don't expect will be around long.
It is a shame I cannot give them less than one star. Absolutely shocking service. They tripled my premium over the space on two months and, despite number of intervention and complaints, they lied to me and tried to blame current legislation Money grabbing ... this is what they are!
Whilst the initial insurance I bought was reasonably priced, they had my policy auto-renewing without me realising (I'm normally good at spotting this, making it more likely that it was buried in their terms and conditions).The renewal amount would have been 45% more than the original - to cancel, I had to call (I couldn't cancel online, which the person on the phone confirmed to me), which took around 15 minutes (having to wait 5-10 minutes to get through a pre-recording, possibly designed to make people give up).Relying on people not realising that their policy is up for renewal and creating unnecessary barriers to cancel the policy appears a less than reasonable way of earning money. I will be avoiding this company in future for this reason.
